The Allegheny West Civic Council will sponsor its annual "Spirits of Allegheny West" haunted walking tour through the 150-year old National Register-listed historic district located on Pittsburgh's Northside October 24 and 25, 2008.

This lovely Victorian neighborhood that once housed many of the city's elite is now home to people who have carefully restored their houses in period style. On the darker side, several share their space with former tenants who are no longer among the living unfortunate souls who were caught in love triangles Civil War heroes who never made it home and expired in West Park unfaithful husbands and wives and those who simply could not (or would not) leave their grand homes and former lives in this charming neighborhood

Guides, steeped in the spirit lore of Allegheny West, will wind you through the streets of this restored and revitalized Victorian-era neighborhood to recount true tales surrounding more than a century of recorded hauntings and supernatural activity.

Tours will originate from Emmanuel Episcopal Church located at the corner of Allegheny Avenue and West North Avenues. Tour groups are limited 25 people will leave every 15 minutes starting at 5:30pm (doors open at 5:00pm). The last tour departs Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 8pm.

Visitors will stop at each house or location on the tour and be immersed in a variety of spine-tingling tales. There are no houses open for this tour so dress appropriately for a 90-minute outdoor tour (the Spirits have tried to drench us in the past but the tour goes on!)

This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12. Tickets are $12 ($10 with a current student ID.)
